Yesterday we arrived in Los Angeles, and after two hours clearing customs and a quick breakfast at Starbucks, we set on off on our way to Yosemite. The drive was surprisingly pretty leaving L.A with mountains everywhere. We took parts of the five hour drive in turns – especially as I was operating on five hours sleep from the two days before.
After entering Yosemite National Park we drove to a popular lookout called Tunnel View. The views are amazing of big cliff faces and waterfalls. Lots of people were there at sunset taking photos. We were lucky to get there just as the sun set, and as it did the temperature dropped quite dramatically! After the sun down we set off for our hotel.
The hotel we are staying at is called Rush Creek Lodge and it is lovely. Very cosy with great American wilderness vibes. We checked in, had dinner in the tavern and had s’mores by the outdoor fire before a shower and an early night dozing off in front of the fire place in our room.

Sunday 3rd February 2020
Today began with a sleep in for me and a 12km run for Michael … no bear sightings though – very disappointed. After a quick breakfast on the go as we set out to explore Yosemite.
Yesterday was a clear day but today was a bit overcast, and a lot cooler. We stopped at a few nice lookouts on the way before heading into Yosemite Valley where we spent most of the day. After a sandwich lunch at the deli in the main part of ‘town’ we continued exploring waterfalls, lookouts and other great spots for photos.
On our way back to the resort it started lightly snowing, which was pretty. Back at the resort we headed in to the tavern for dinner and to watch the Superbowl. A tad overrated if you ask me – but then again I’m not American. S’mores after dinner again tonight by the fire before heading back to the room. We are both still pretty tried, and although it’s now only 8pm, it does look like bedtime for us before our final day in Yosemite tomorrow after which we begin the journey to our next destination – San San Fransisco!
